Christy Kunitzky is a multi-disciplinary artist and weaver currently based in Montreal, QC. She holds a BFA from the Ontario College of Art and Design and an MFA from Concordia University. She is interested in making from a layman’s perspective and aims to use processes and materials that are accessible and readily available. Interested in material histories, she uses sculpture, installation and textiles to investigate power relations, notions of time, labour, and closeness. Through making, she aims to pull apart some of the sticky moments where control and care meet, where commitment and obligation intersect and where ownership and burden overlap.
Her work has recently been shown at The Leonard and Bina Ellen Gallery (Montreal, QC), Livart (Montreal, QC) and as part of Toronto’s Nuit Blanche festival.
